01

Care and workplace notice

Seek appropriate care and follow the applicable workplace reporting process. Note whom you told, when, and what report was created. Employer reporting and workers’ compensation procedures vary by state.

02

Preserve the job record

Keep the shift, assignment, supervisor, equipment, contractor, location, witness details, photos taken safely, medical restrictions, and correspondence about benefits or return to work.

03

Separate possible paths

Workers’ compensation and a possible claim involving a contractor, driver, property operator, or equipment maker are different questions. Do not assume a third-party claim exists or that a general lawsuit is available against an employer.

04

Ask about coordinated advice

Ask whether the firm handles workplace benefits and third-party issues, how it communicates with other representatives, and which state notice and filing rules require prompt review.
