Get care and report accurately
Seek medical attention and follow the reporting process that applies locally. Safety comes before photographs. Keep the report number and the identity of the responding agency if one was involved.
Map the exact movement
Note the crossing, path, lane, driveway, direction, traffic signal, weather, lighting, and people involved. For a bicycle, preserve helmet and bicycle condition. Record observations without estimating speed or assigning fault from memory alone.
Find who may have records
Drivers, nearby businesses, transit operators, road authorities, or event organizers may each have different information. Ask a lawyer how it would identify and preserve cameras, signal data, and witness accounts.
Compare firms on the actual setting
A road collision differs from a park path encounter. Ask whether the firm handles your type of incident, which state fault and public-body rules may matter, and who will manage the work.
