01

Attend to the student’s care

Follow medical guidance and keep discharge instructions, appointments, and school-related restrictions. For a suspected concussion, ask the treating clinician about a return-to-school plan rather than relying on a legal article for medical decisions.

02

Describe the school activity

Record the classroom, playground, bus, sports event, or off-site location, time, supervising adults, equipment, and witnesses. Request and keep the school or event report and related communications.

03

Identify each organization

A public school, private school, league, transportation company, and facility operator may have different roles. Public-body procedures and deadlines can differ from private claims under state law.

04

Protect privacy while comparing firms

Ask whether the firm has investigated school or child injuries, who would contact the institution, what records are needed, and how it handles a minor’s sensitive information and family updates.
