Identify the vehicle without guessing ownership
When safe, record the plate, vehicle number, markings, trailer information, location, and report number. A logo or delivery uniform does not prove which company owned or controlled the vehicle.
Document the event and care
Keep photos, witness contacts, treatment records, and a plain timeline. Record whether the vehicle was making a delivery, turning, stopped, or traveling, if you actually know. Avoid filling gaps with assumptions.
Ask about commercial records
A carrier, driver, shipper, delivery platform, or maintenance provider might hold different records. A firm can say which dispatch, inspection, camera, and insurance information it would seek and how quickly.
Compare relevant experience
Ask whether the firm has investigated commercial crashes, who handles evidence preservation, and how it identifies potentially involved parties. State rules and filing periods need a location-specific review.
